Just an update on our re-opening!
Firstly, thank you to everyone for your patience while the pub is closed.
We are deeply grateful to the many locals who have reached out with encouragement and support. Your kind words have meant so much, and we truly cannot wait to welcome you back to this special place.
As previously shared, we had hoped to reopen in November. Unfortunately, delays with several suppliers and other circumstances outside our control mean we’re unable to meet that timeline. The upcoming Christmas and New Year industry shutdown period will also slow progress.
For those living locally, you’ll know that work has been continuous since we began - often extending well into the afternoons and evenings. A tremendous amount of care, effort, and investment has gone into what has become as much a restoration as a refurbishment. The building and its services had deteriorated significantly over many decades, and our priority has been ensuring everything is completed properly and sustainably for the long-term future of the pub. Unfortunately, this has simply taken longer than originally anticipated.
We understand that some community members are eager to see the pub reopen, and while we appreciate the enthusiasm, as the new custodians, our focus must be on doing the job thoroughly and respectfully, so the pub can serve the village well for generations to come. In the meantime, we encourage anyone looking for a nearby spot to enjoy a drink to visit the Robertson Public House until we’re open again.
We are aiming to reopen to the public by autumn. However, given the unexpected length of the refurbishment, we will only announce an official date once we are certain. Please rest assured that we will open as soon as everything is ready.
While we remain closed, we will not be checking emails or messages regularly, as our time and resources are fully committed to the restoration, however, here are some answers to the most common questions:
When do you expect to open?
We expect to reopen early next year. As soon as we have a confirmed date, we will share it via:
– Our website (to be relaunched prior to reopening)
– Instagram and Facebook
– Our Google Business listing
– The Burrawang Village Facebook page
– The Burrawang Herald
– The Burrawang & Wildes Meadow Community Association mailout
You won’t miss it - we promise.
Will you have accommodation?
We will no longer be offering on-site accommodation. However, our new website will include a curated list of excellent accommodation options nearby.
Can I make a booking?
We are not taking any bookings of any kind until we are officially open and trading. Once open, dining and group booking enquiries will be welcomed via the website.
Will you be hosting weddings or large group events?
Due to the size of the venue, we will be unable to host large sit-down events or weddings. However, we will be offering catering packages for small group events. Details - including sample menus and pricing - will be available on our website closer to opening.
For those planning a wedding in Burrawang, we highly recommend the Burrawang School of Arts, an elegant heritage venue currently undergoing refurbishment and expected to reopen in late 2026.
Whilst we can’t accommodate large weddings, the pub will be perfectly suited to intimate celebrations such as birthdays, anniversaries, engagement gatherings, bridal dinners, baby showers, wakes, memorials, and small business or community events. We will welcome enquiries via our website once we reopen.
Will you still host local events such as locals’ nights?
Yes. We will continue to support local events, including movie nights at the School of Arts (once they resume), community meetings, locals’ nights, and trivia nights.
Will it still feel like a country pub?
We have seen a few comments expressing concern that the pub won’t feel like a “traditional country pub” anymore. We’d like to reassure everyone that our vision has always been to restore the pub’s warmth, charm, and character - without the corporate feel that many modern venues take on. Our goal is to create a welcoming, down-to-earth space that feels like a home away from home for our villagers and local farmers.
We look forward to letting the finished result speak for itself once we reopen.
